Because Ideas Can Be Hot And Cold

Tel Aviv, Israel

In ancient Jaffa, one of the most important ports in the State of Israel, the renovation of a house in the area offers the opportunity to see the original passages opened up after hundreds of years, in order to illuminate the space and gather the individual rooms in a single context.

The rooms, all interconnected, are designed and built in such a way that the sea can always be seen. The connections between them are highlighted by a black sheet covering, which hides the technical spaces from view. The decorations, added over the years to the ceiling arches, have been swiftly removed to give way to refined white plaster, that enhances even more the imposing dome of the kitchen.

The floor is a pure cast of rough concrete that helps unify the different rooms. The bathroom overlooks the sea, so as to allow every sense to perceive its proximity. The CEA steel fittings stand out elegantly against the whiteness of the walls, confirming the material character of every architectural choice
