Private residence
PORTLAND RESIDENCE
Classic timeless lines
Canada - Mount Royal, Montréal
With the aim of reconfiguring the interior spaces and flow, Atelier Barda has renovated the Portland residence, a historic building with a contemporary architectural style located in the suburb of Mount Royal.
Structured on several floors for a total area over 270 square metres, this home features a large and bright living area on the ground floor with a spectacular view of the garden. The circular leather sofa, the grand piano and the fireplace harmonise the environment with tasteful touches of black and grey.
At the centre we find a service block in black stained oak. The block, a connection between the different rooms, includes a storage cabinet, a service bathroom and kitchen equipment. It also provides access to the stairs and to a bookcase by creating a passageway between the private rooms of the house and the common spaces.
On the second floor there are the private areas, where the materials chosen help to create a soft atmosphere. The chevron parquet in light natural oiled oak and the clean lines of the mouldings create a sophisticated balance between the original features of the house and the newer architectural elements.
In the bathrooms, tadelakt plaster finish walls, the marble floors and the countertops, combined with the satin stainless steel taps by CEA, create a contemporary environment in the chromatic hues of white and grey.
